The Awareness Wheel: The Verbal Slice

The Verbal Wheel practices the relational dimension of inner work, emphasizing that meaningful transformation does not occur in isolation. At its core, it recognizes that growth deepens through honest communication, shared experience, and receptive listening. Engaging with others—whether individuals or groups—provides clarity and support that the solitary mind cannot reliably generate on its own. The Verbal Wheel serves as a reminder that inner exploration is inherently communal, shaped and refined through relationship.

A key movement of the Verbal Wheel is reaching out. Asking for help from those who have already walked the path, working with personal helpers, and drawing from the wisdom of community are framed not as weaknesses, but as acts of strength and humility. Community is the container where this outreach takes form—through gatherings, workshops, and shared spaces. In these environments, isolation dissolves as common struggles and truths come into view, replacing separation with belonging and mutual understanding.

Taken together the four aspects of the Verbal Wheel—reaching out, community, sharing, and listening—create an integrated cycle of relational practice: the Verbal Wheel in motion. Its function is to break isolation, dissolve subtle ego patterns, and foster a sense of unity that gradually dissolves our idea that we are a small individual duking it out with the world alone. We build Basic Trust, the term some Buddhists use for God.
